Middle School Model United Nations
April 26-27, 2007

The SC YMCA Youth in Government Middle School Model United Nations program provides students in grades 6-8 the opportunity to learn about different countries and attend a two-day conference during which they present and debatea proposal on their country. Model United Nations is a classroom or extracurricular project for participating middle schools or YMCA after-school programs. Participants spend several months working in small groups to student a particular country. Each country group writes a proposal, creates a Festival of Nations display, makes a flag, and designs "native attire" for their country. The project culminates in the two-day conference, when more than 300 students from across the state come together at the YMCA Blue Ridge Assembly Conference Center for the annual Model United Nations conference.
